Our Favorite Ocean-Themed Icebreaker
Guess the Animal
Goal: Team members identify an ocean animal based on three adjectives.
Directions:
Have each person privately think of an ocean animal and 3 adjectives to describe it. You’ll want to select slightly tricky adjectives.
Everyone comes off mute.
Taking turns, each person shares their 3 adjectives, with pauses in between the adjectives. Meeting participants can shout out guesses of what the animal is.
If you want to make it competitive, you can assign points to the people who correctly identify their team member’s animal and points to the team member for stumping the team! You can give more points for guessing the animal in fewer words.
This is a great game to use at the start of a meeting to get the energy up and get people comfortable talking. We love it because it is low stakes, meaning it isn’t too personal. And if your meeting objective is around building connections between ideas, this is a great way to warm up the brain. This might not be the best activity if your team has mixed language proficiencies.
